Motor

  • Spark Plugs
    • NGK BUR9EGP for street use (are standard here in Germany)
    • NGK R6725-115 for track use. Very poor idle under 2000 RPM.
  • Ignition wires
    • ULTRA silicone.
  • Apex seals.
    • 2 piece 2 mm thick. Ordered these from Hurley Engineering in England. They should hold a much higher boost.
  • Air tract
    • K&N Filter. Need to clean and oil it regularly.
    • Racing Beat air inlet duct. Certainly made a difference. Requires a bit of surgery to install.
    • Racing Beat intercooler safety straps. I got these early on in the modification stage. I´m not sure that it was a good purchase.
  • Exhaust
    • Remus cat-back

Suspension

  • Sway bars
    • Suspension Techniques matched front and rear sway bars (rear is adjustable)
  • Koni adjustable Shock absorbers
    • Can mount the springs at three different levels (ride height).
    • I found that on the rear, the softest setting was finally the best for the Nordschleife.
  • Racing Beat front sway bar mount reinforcement strut.
    • Looked like it could be a weakpoint. Survived a big hit on the front right wheel - maybe it was worth it?.

Brakes

  • ATE superblue racing brake fluid
  • Original race set-up was (Eibach springs on all 4 corners)
    • Hawk HB155 Blue racing compound on the front. Lasted 4 races (less if only Gprix course)
    • original discs. Lasted 10 races.
    • Standard street pads on the rear. lasted 3-4 races.
  • After replacing the rear Eibach with the original Mazda springs.
    • Hawk HB 155 Blue - on the front. Lasted the same.
    • original discs. Lasted the same
    • Rear needed EBC `Green stuff´ pads. Lasted 4 races.
  • The later setup improved the rear end stablility.

Wheels + Tyres

  • 12 x ATS 17x8J Aluminium 6 spoke wheels
  • Dunlop dry (700 compound)
    • 225/605 - 17 at the front
    • 240/605 - 17 at the rear
  • Dunlop intermediate was the dry compound with a tread pattern carved into it. The tyre sizes were the same.
  • Dunlop Formula Wet
    • 220/620 - 17 at the front (not very good tyres - I also got them second hand)
  • Dunlop rain (.. compund)
    • 235/620 - 17 at the rear

Body + safety

  • Driving lights installed (Toyota)
  • Steel mesh in front of the two oil coolers and radiator.
  • Roll cage custom build by Wiechers.
  • Two Sparco fiberglass racing seats (had a co-driver once).
  • 3 inch wide 5 point racing harness
  • Two 2 Kg fire extinguishers.

Dash + lap timer

  • Tech racing oil gauge.
  • Autometer Turbo gauge (+/- 2 bar.)
  • Autometer exhaust oxygen sensor
  • Developed my own racing lap timer
  • Driving light switch
  • 12 volt battery safety cut-out switch
