Tyres
Slicks/grooved slicks
- Started out with 2.2 Bar at the front and 2.5 at the rear
- The tyre rubber never got very hot
- Increased tyre pressure to 2.5 at the front (in steps) and 2.8 at the rear.
- This sounds like a lot of pressure, but it warmed the tyres up nicely, and the tyre wear also looked good.
Wet
- stuck to 2.2 Bar at the front and 2.5 at the rear.
- Didn´t use them much, so hard to tell if it was a good setup or not.

After the Eibach springs and Koni shocks went in, the Camber angle was set to -
Another change for the Camber angle was -
I replaced the Eibach springs in the rear with the original Mazda part, and used the Koni adjustable ring seat to re-lower the rear. I also set the Konis in the back to soft, and finally, reset the Camber angle to -

Suspension setup (Caster)
With the original spring/setup, the Caster angle was set to -
After the Eibach springs/Koni shocks were installed, the caster angle changed to -
- front left +3.20°
- front right +5.30°
I didn´t like that there was an imbalance (even with me sitting in the car while the changes were being made), but I couldn´t change it! |

Oil
I always use mineral oil.
Started out using Shell Helix 15W40
- found that at sustained high revs, the oil pressure would drop. Once the oil cooled down again, it was back up to pressure.
Changed to Castrol GTX-3 15W40
- under the same conditions, the oil pressure drop was only slightly noticeable.
Was contemplating going to Valvoline mineral racing oil. Haven´t tried it yet. |
